1.8.6 Automatic Number Identification (ANI)
With this feature, you can assign specific telephone numbers that will be allowed to access your YIP phone service when they call a specific Access Number. When the access number is called it will look at the phone number of the caller and compare it to your list. If the number appears then the caller will be provided with “IP Dial tone” and may make calls at your YIP Phone rates.
In this way, after it is set, you can use your PSTN phone or cell phone to dial an access number to the InfiNET Soft switch system. The system will recognize you as your YIP phone account. Then under the voice guidance of the system you can call other numbers. This feature allows you to get your YIP phone rates when you cannot access your YIP Phone. All you need to do is set up ANI numbers in advance. Then dial your access number with your PSTN phone or cell phone. Then you can dial the destination number you want to call. The charges will be applicable to your YIP phone account, your PSTN phone or cell phone will only be charged when dialing the access number.
In this section you will learn how to enable and set up the ANI number you want to assign to your VoIP phone account. After you assign the numbers you will need the access numbers which will be provided by YIP.
